Every few years the trucks rolled in and the empty ground behind the colony turned into a city of its own. Bulbs strung on bamboo. A ferris wheel that groaned like it knew better. And somewhere at the back, the wall of death — a wooden drum where men rode motorcycles sideways against gravity while the whole crowd leaned over the rails and forgot to breathe. Then one morning it was gone. Just tyre marks and a smell of petrol in the dust. The Carnival is built from that memory — the noise, the danger dressed up as entertainment, the men who arrived as strangers and left as legend. Washed cottons that look ridden-in.
